2008

Alvin Brown, his wife Gillian with 2 sons Layton and Reece, 5 & 3 years old respectively at the time, were all set to immigrate to Dubai. They both had accepted job offers in a large construction company where Gillian would be working in the Quantity Surveying department and Alvin would be in the HVAC department. A few months before their time to depart they found out that they were pregnant, well it was a blessing in disguise as the very next year Dubai went into financial recession and then God blessed the Brown family with a beautiful little girl, Alexis. This is when Alvin decided that if they were going to settle in SA, he was going to open his own business. So with a maxed out Bond & 3 children, Thermal Dynamics & Engineering was born from Dreams alone.

2009

Thermal Dynamics & Engineering cc was created from humble beginnings when Alvin founded the business in January 2009, it was operated from a double garage and small study from the house, admin was run on an old second hand box shape computer. Alvin was well known for his knowledge and ethics in the industry, aquiring a number of clients from his past work experience, where Clients sought him out in the industry when Thermal Dynamics was started. Alvin and his one assistant worked 8 – 12 hours a day on sites and then after hours in the workshop on compressors , then Alvin would spend 4-6 hours in the office with quotes and invoices in the evenings and early mornings.

2010

This went on until the beginning of 2010, Thermal Dynamics then acquired its second and third service vehicles and more technicians. Employed directly by ACSA -the old Airport, they repaired and reinstated their chilled water plants, ACSA was so impressed with TDE’s services they requested the services to maintain their equipment until such time as the new Airport was commissioned and the old decommissioned, so we had one team permanently based on site for approximately 5 months.

2011

Thermal Dynamics & Engineering went from strength to strength building its name in the Industry through servicing clients in the process, food and comfort cooling Industry, providing professional, engineered solutions with 24/7, 365 availability. By the end of 2011 Thermal dynamics had their 4th service vehicle and team on the road, but still working from Alvins’ residence.

2012

In the beginning of 2012 a major equipment supplier, Intramech, who supplies Climaventa chillers and equipment approached Thermal Dynamics & Engineering and offered them sole KZN service agency. Thermal Dynamics accepted, sent technicians to Italy on training and are now fully trained as the sole KZN service agents for the products.

2014

By 2014 thermal Dynamics had grown to 6 vehicles and teams on the road with 2 service managers, they then took on the NuCoat extension project onto McBean Beiers premises, where they designed, installed and commissioned a 600kw, dual temperature demand chilled water plant for their production process. This R 4,5M contract put Thermal dynamics on the Map.

2015 – 2019

In April 2015, 17 employees strong, Thermal Dynamics & Engineering acquired their own premises in Westmead, where they revamped and made it their home away from home. From here Thermal Dynamics has acquired many maintenance contracts with large corporate companies in the process and food industry and/or their comfort cooling requirements.
